EMERGENCY INFORMATION

Fire:
        (1) call an Emergency Dispatcher listed in the Quatsino Telephone Directory to begin an emergency phone out OR DIAL 911.
    or (2) use Emergency Air-horn; 3 long equally spaced blasts (HELP) to summon near-by assistance.
(Air-horns are supplied by the QRO to all homeowners - $10.00 /2014.)

Ambulance:
       (1) if needed - call a Dispatcher who will organize support & boat transport to Coal Harbour wharf to meet the ambulance or to transport medical personnel into Quatsino.
then (2) call 911 to request medical assistance to meet boat at Coal Harbour wharf or to attend the injured on site.

Police:
If an emergency needs immediate assistance call 911 and state “come by boat” to I.D. Quatsino’s location.
     Call a Dispatcher if on-site help is needed.  
Police dispatch is from Port Alice or from Port Hardy via Water Taxi.
     We are under the Port Alice Police jurisdiction, for non-emergency calls;

Civic Address Numbers:
     In 2012 all properties were assigned a civic address number by the RDMW to assist emergency and service providers in locating individual homes. Display them, along with your name, where visible from road!  
     General address maps are posted on the Community Notice Boards, and with Port Alice RCMP, BC Hydro and RDMW.

Earthquake and Tsunami:
     Local Radio (CFNI) and BC television and on-line sites will broadcast emergency information following a major earthquake event. 
    Many Quatsino homes are within the 10 meter tsunami evacuation zone.  All residents should be prepared to leave their homes and report to nearest high ground evacuation site after a strong earthquake.
     Follow preparation and evacuation instructions as outlined in 12. Quatsino Emergency Plan.
